A beautiful study model from Anne Holtrop

One of two exhibition pieces exploring the notion of 'retreat' from the young Dutch architect
Commissioned by the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment at The Hague, Anne Holtrop has completed a theoretical study concerning safety within embassies. 'The work originated out of the need for safety issues in embassies,' says Holtrop. 'What I tried to do is to develop two ideas in models to give a broader insight in this question.' The pair of models - Retreat I & Retreat II - explore the dual meaning of the word retreat, that can have both positive (relaxation) and negative (defensive) connotations. The models will be will be on show at TU Delft later this month, from 31 August. Visit here for the exhibition details.
