Urban Planning: Architecture Foundation Cordoba / Point Supreme Architects17May 2010By Karen Cilento , Cordoba, Spain
Architecture Foundation Cordoba / Point Supreme Architects
Greek architects Point Supreme shared their urban plan + architecture foundation building competition proposal for Cordoba, Spain with us. The proposal seeks to connect the San Pablo block with the more central part of the city by capitalizing on the site's diversity of entry points. The building, an architecture institution, is designed to frame the void that resides next to and under the structure.
This void establishes visual and spatial relationships with historical elements in the city, such as archaeological remains of a Roman temple. The emptiness also allows users to see different activities happening on the changing levels of the institute.
The building's circulation system incorporates various ramps and stairs that run through the building, cutting through the mass in different directions. This arrangement adds to the users' experience as the journey becomes just as exciting as the final destination.
A large screen will display information that every user, no matter his position in the building, will be able to see. In this way, the wall serves as a major element that connects all in the building.
The plan also includes a semi-open space programmed for exhibitions, archaeological displays and public meetings.
