Medgar Evers College in New York, United States
The Medgar Evers College designed by Ennead Architects is located in New York, United States. Academic Building 1 defines a new campus identity and furthers the College's mission to provide an environment in which students obtain a high quality, career-oriented undergraduate science education. The building provides thirteen state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, nursing and computer science, which have been designed for maximum flexibility, allowing them to be used for different subjects throughout the academic year.
The light-filled corridors, lobby and stairs adjacent the glass curtain wall provide views out to the community and allow the community to witness the activity within, encourage student and faculty interaction and the interdisciplinary mingling that enriches the educational experience. Articulating the entry lobby and cafeteria as an independent volume allows these spaces to become the identity of the College.
