When Pattersons Architects built the house, they had in mind to orientate the house to the sun and the stunning lake ad mountain views. Crafted in local stones. two large pavilions encapsulate a private courtyard concealed toward towering gates.

Winner of the New Zealand Architecture Medal Finalist 2010. The Judges describes the lodge as:
"Simplicity of the exterior belies a rich interior. centered around a courtyard is a beautiful orchestrated series of space all alive with a theatrical quality while carefully place windows edit specific views. The rural, industrial material are unusual but successful
